This recipe is very simple to make and shouldn’t take you long at all.

Main Ingredients (Must Use)
Cooked Chicken: Chicken is the star of this dish and you can use any type of leftover chicken pieces for this dish.
Mushrooms: Mushrooms is used to help add some extra flavor to this dish.
Bell Peppers: Bell Peppers is used to help add some extra flavor as well as some color contrast for this dish.
Frozen Peas: Peas help add some extra flavor for this dish.
Milk: Milk is used to help give it that creamy texture.
Heavy Cream: To be honest you can skip the heavy cream, but I prefer to add it in with the milk to help give it some additional creaminess.
Chicken Broth: Chicken Broth is used to help provide the liquid base for the dish.
Flour: Flour is used to help thicken the dish.
Butter: Butter is used to help cook the vegetables.
Onions: Onions help add some extra flavor for this dish.. It is totally optional and you can use any type of onion you want.
How Do You Make Chicken Ala King?
Making Chicken Ala King is a pretty simple thing to do plus you can make it pretty fast as well.
To make this dish, the steps are as followed:
On to a cutting board, chop your left over cooked chicken pieces into chunks or smaller pieces depending on your preference. Then set it aside.
Grab your mushrooms and slice it up into tiny pieces, then set it aside.
Grab your bell peppers and slice it up into tiny pieces, then set it aside.
Gran your onion and dice it up into tiny pieces, then set it aside.
Then grab a sauce pan over medium high heat and melt some butter into the pan. Once the butter has melted, you’ll want to put in your mushroom and onion pieces into the pan. Keep stirring things around until both the mushrooms and onions are evenly cooked and has become soft.
After that, you’ll want to put in your flour and continue to stir things around until the flour is completely gone.
Once the flour is gone and cooked, you’ll want to add in your bell peppers. Continue to mix things around for a minute or two.
After that you’ll want to pour in your chicken broth, milk, heavy cream and bring the mixture to a boil. After the mixture is boiling, lower the heat to about simmering levels and continue to stir things around so that everything is combined all together. The mixture should also now start to thicken up a little bit.
Time to season the dish with some salt and black pepper.
Now you’ll want to pour in your frozen peas and leftover chicken pieces.
Keep stirring until the peas and chicken are heated up. This should take about a few minutes.
After that, turn off the heat and serve.
Substitutions/Alterations In This Recipe
There are a few things in which you can substitute or change out in this recipe.
For instance, milk or heavy cream.
To be honest, you can use either milk or heavy cream, it is totally up to you. However in my opinion, I would use both the milk and heavy cream together to help make things even more creamier. But if you don’t want to do that, you can certainly feel free to use just one of them in a dish.
Vegetables: Chicken Ala King is a very versatile dish. It uses mushrooms, bell peppers and even peas which makes this dish a very nutritional dish. But that doesn’t mean you should stop there. If you wanted to, you can add even more vegetables into this dish. Corn would be a perfect addition, so would some pieces of leafy greens. It is all up to you.
Chicken: You can use any type of meat you want. For example, you can use pork, seafood, or even beef.

- 4 Cup Chicken Chopped Up Into Smaller Pieces
- 1 Cup Bell Peppers Diced Up
- 1 Cup Onion Diced Up
- 1 Cup Mushroom Sliced
- 1 Cup Pea Frozen Peas
- 1/2 Cup All-Purpose Flour
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1 Cup Heavy Cream
- 2 Cup Chicken Broth
- 1/2 Cup Butter
- Black Pepper
- On a cutting board, dice up your chicken, mushrooms, onions, and bell peppers.
- Grab a saucepan over medium high heat and melt some butter in it. Once the butter has melted, you'll want to pour in your mushrooms and onions. Stir things around until everything is nicely cooked and has become soft.
- Once your mushrooms and onions have become soft, you'll want to add in the flour. Continue to stir things around until the flour is fully cooked and you can't see it anymore.
- After the flour is cooked, pour in your bell peppers and continue to mix things around for a few minutes.
- Add in your chicken broth, milk and heavy cream while continuing to stir things around. Bring the mixture to a boil. Once it starts boiling, turn the heat level to low and let it simmer so the sauce can thicken up.
- Season your mixture with a bit of salt and pepper for taste.
- Add in your frozen peas and chicken pieces. Continue to stir for a few minutes until the peas and chicken get fully heated up.
- Serve immediately over some rice or pasta or whatever you want.
